Cybersecurity Awareness Month Cybersecurity Awareness Month Provided to The Clarion October 13, 2026 October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. As a Madison College student, you rely on technology every day to access coursework, communicate with instructors, manage financial aid and connect with classmates. Taking a few simple steps can help protect your personal information and keep your accounts secure.   Protect Yourself Online: Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) whenever available. Create strong, unique passwords for your Madison College and personal accounts. Be cautious of phishing emails and text messages. If a message seems urgent, unexpected or requests personal information, take a moment to verify it before clicking links or downloading attachments. Keep devices updated with the latest security patches. Use secure Wi-Fi networks and avoid accessing sensitive information on public networks whenever possible.   Think Before You Click: Cybercriminals often target students with fake job offers, scholarship opportunities, package delivery notices and account verification requests. If something seems suspicious, it probably is.   Be Part of a Secure Campus: Cybersecurity isn’t just an IT responsibility. Every student plays a role in protecting personal information and college systems. By practicing safe online habits, you help make Madison College a safer digital community for everyone.   Story continues below advertisement This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take a few minutes to review your online security habits.
