UT San Antonio opens new Basketball & Volleyball Training Center UT San Antonio celebrated the grand opening of its new $35 million Basketball & Volleyball Training Center (BVTC) on Wednesday, marking a major investment in the university’s athletics programs and student-athlete experience. The 53,048-square-foot facility, located on Barshop Boulevard next to the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE), now serves as the home for daily operations of the university’s men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs. The center features two full-size NCAA practice courts, dedicated locker rooms and team lounges, a weight room, team meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. Its athletic training space includes hydrotherapy and hyperbaric chambers, with enhanced training technology available to nearly 400 UT San Antonio student-athletes across the athletics program. “I am grateful for this special moment in the trajectory of our intercollegiate athletics enterprise. This state-of-the-art practice facility is essential to our aspirations for our women’s and men’s basketball and volleyball programs,” UT San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy said. “Today, we are so fortunate to recognize our essential partnerships with the City of San Antonio and Bexar County, and the generosity of our many wonderful donors in making this facility a reality. We have more work to do across the enterprise, but this day is a special day, and I am deeply appreciative of the leadership of Dr. Lisa Campos, Senior Executive Vice President Andrea Marks and their teams for making days like today possible.” President Taylor Eighmy speaks to student-athletes during the opening of the Basketball & Volleyball Training Center. The City of San Antonio and Bexar County each contributed $5 million toward construction, with additional support from private donors. The project builds on previous partnerships that supported RACE and the Park West Fieldhouse.
