‘Cats underperform, swept in straight sets against Oregon State Categories: Features Sports Volleyball ‘Cats underperform, swept in straight sets against Oregon State Cooper Yarbough, Sports Contributor October 14, 2026 Samuel Lee Texas State fifth year libero Jasmine Purakal (12) dives for the ball, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at Strahan Arena. The Bobcats lost to the Oregon State Beavers 3-0. AC Froehlich had 15 kills and a .393 hitting percentage as the Oregon State Beavers swept the Texas State Bobcats (25-18, 26-24, 25-20) Wednesday evening at Strahan Arena. The story of the game for the Bobcats (7-11, 2-5 Pac-12) was mistakes, as they committed 22 hitting errors. Despite these mistakes, the game was closer than the final score entails, with both squads trading blows for what felt like the entire match. The first set began with the Beavers (9-8, 4-2 Pac-12) getting a quick 3-0 lead and they did not lose it, despite the Bobcats narrowing the lead to just two, bringing the score to 19-17. Oregon State put together a 6-1 rally to finish out the first set 25-18. The second frame began with a milestone moment, as in the first point fifth-year libero Jasmine Purakal collected her 1000th career dig, a bright spot in the otherwise disappointing game. “It’s so awesome,” said head coach Sean Huiet. “It’s a huge accomplishment and it’s such a testament of how hard the kid works.” It came at the beginning of a 7-0 run for the Bobcats to begin the second set. However the Beavers put together a 12-5 run to tie the set at 12-12. They kept their momentum throughout the rest of the set as both teams traded points, with OSU just edging out a 26-24 set victory. Set three was kicked off with a consistent back-and-forth as Texas State kept playing to try and force a fourth set. The ‘Cats managed to survive all the way to an 18-18 score before the Beavers managed to breakaway and win the set 25-20, completing the sweep. The Bobcats in the affair against Oregon State showed the same issues that had been plaguing them all season, as they have just three wins in their last 10 games played dating back to Sept. 18. Texas State will begin a three-game stretch away from home as they will  face San Diego State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Peterson Gymnasium.  The game will be available to stream on the Pac-12 YouTube Channel. 0 Like This Story Share on Facebook Share on X Email this Story Print this Story More to Discover More in Features Q&A: Hays County Commissioners Court Precinct 4 candidates Q&A: Commissioner's Court Precinct 2 candidates Q&A: Hays County criminal district attorney candidates Texas State community holds demonstration to stand with Jane Doe Austin City Limits Music Festival TXST couple retires after roughly decade of supporting student success More in Sports 'Cats look to get first conference win vs Colorado State Lucky Cruz finishes in the top 15 at the Testudo Cup Quintanilla leads the Bobcats at Ron Moore Intercollegiate TXST Baseball releases 2027 schedule The Protect College Sports Act and how it could impact Texas State World's game: How TXST went international More in Volleyball ‘Cats finds their footing in a dominant win over Gonzaga Texas State shut down by Boise State in straight-set sweep Bobcats drop second straight game in loss to Oregon State TXST struggles with consistency against Colorado State Texas State sweeps Utah State for first Pac-12 win in program history Portal additions powering Bobcat Volleyball's reset
