No looking in the ‘Rearview’: Brenn! brings small town stories and big Nashville energy No looking in the ‘Rearview’: Brenn! brings small town stories and big Nashville energy To escape the pouring rain Oct. 10, music fans filled Exit/In to witness Brenn! play the final, unforgettable show of his “Amateur At Best” Tour. Fans gathered at the iconic venue to see Brenn! perform live, following the online popularity of the single “4runner.”  Brenn!, also known as Brennan Keller, is a young folk-pop singer-songwriter originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He built a massive following almost overnight through his raw, small-town storytelling and high-energy acoustic tracks, eventually packing out shows as he made his way up to Nashville, Tennessee.   Inside the venue, the room was bathed in this purple ambient glow. Doors opened right at 7 p.m. CDT, and everyone brought their own version of fall style: worn-in rain boots, cozy beige coats and a few laced dresses that gave a gentle nod to that southern country feel. Noah Kahan’s music drifted through the speakers, and an “Amateur at Best”-style backdrop was painted on wood in white and red on the wall of the stage. It felt warm — like stepping out of the rain into somebody’s living room.  By 8 p.m., Mor Ilderton took the stage, one of Brenn!’s hometown friends. Mor was dressed down in sweats, and the moment he started singing, his voice completely held the room. He did a cover of Matt Mason’s “Gravedigger,” and things got heavy as he shared personal stories.   He shared how his dad killed his mom when he was only 3 years old, and how alienated he felt growing up and constantly hearing people tell him how much he reminded them of his dad. He played “Father’s Ending” and “Strong,” as he teared up, bonding everyone in the venue together in this quiet and deeply human way.  Singer-songwriter Mor sings and plays acoustic guitar during his opening set at Exit/In, as photographed Oct. 10, 2026. To mark the final night of the tour in Nashville, the band decided to ditch their usual matching jerseys. Laughing off their mini act of rebellion, they took the stage in more relaxed casual wear before launching right into the music. They tore straight into “Home Run” and “Footing,” with the guitar layers gradually building up into a massive sound at the end of the second song.  Brenn! sings into the microphone under purple stage lighting at Exit/In, as photographed Oct. 10, 2026. (Hustler Multimedia/Abby Trussell) Brenn! had a magnetic, effortless way of talking to the crowd. He shared how his song “Rookie of the Year” came out of a random living room hangout watching “The Sandlot.” He told a funny story about his dad showing up after-school covered in paint from work and paused to dedicate “Brand New Car” to a 9-year-old fan named Talula who drove all the way from Alabama with her family. Before wrapping up, he slowed things down to talk about his faith journey and trying to fill emotional voids, moving right into “Franklin House.” He played as if he was ending the set, but he then snuck back out for an encore complete with a silly little bit where he pretended to take a bite out of a burger and transitioned his hands into a heart shape towards the audience. He played “4runner,” a personal favorite, and closed out the night by throwing his whole body into a massive high jump off the stage.  Brenn! leaps into the air during his final song at Exit/In, as photographed Oct. 10, 2026. (Hustler Multimedia/Abby Trussell) Walking back out into the cool Nashville night, with the pavement still wet from the storm, Brenn!’s final concert felt like the most perfect, grounded way to close out this chapter of his music.  View Story Comments 0 Like This Story Share on Facebook Share on X Email this Story Print this Story Leave a comment About the Contributor Pratiksha Mishra, Staff Writer and Data Staffer Pratiksha Mishra (‘28) is majoring in medicine, health & society with a minor in biological sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences and is from Bowling Green, Kentucky.
